Hemingway's last major fictional work published during his lifetime. It tells the story of Santiago, an aging fisherman, and his long struggle to catch a giant marlin.Early reviews were positive, with many hailing what they saw as a return to form for Hemingway after Across the River's negative reception.
Book is in very good condition except two short former owner's notes at half-title page and a tiny adress stamp of a former owner on the back endpaper. All pages are bright and clean.
Pictorial dust jacket is in very good condition except some light fading to spine and light creasing to spine ends and one short closed tear (ca. 0.5cm) on the front panel. Some minor signs of use to the edges. Price (7s. 6d. net) is intact. DJ is now protected by a new transparent archival sleeve.
